Huatulco is a tourist establishment in
Mexico that centers around a town called La Crucecita. Huatulco is located within the state of Oaxaca on the Mexican Pacific coast. It consists of nine bays (which is why it is known as Bahias de Huatuluco; "bahias" is Spanish for "bays) which drive its bustling tourism industry. There are also many picturesque, tiny coves and sandy, white
beaches in Huatulco. If you are planning to visit Huatulco, there are many things to see and do.
Bahia Chahue
Bahia Chahue is one of the busiest and most popular bays in Huatulco. Though the beach is often busy, it has a serene and laid-back atmosphere. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the region. It is an idyllic place to take a relaxed walk on the beach, sunbathe, go swimming and maybe even go surfing. There are a lot of quaint shops, cafes, restaurants, resorts and oceanfront condominiums surrounding Bahia Chahue.
Playa San Augustin
Playa San Augustin is a beach on Huatulco's southeast coast. This is a highly relaxing and quiet beach that is perfect if you want to get away from noise and crowds. It is great for recreational activities including snorkeling and diving. The beach is also surrounded by many restaurants that serve fresh seafood from the area. The beach is just under half a mile in length and the sand is a darker color compared to many of the other beaches in the area. It has a gentle and mild slope, making it well protected from the waves.
Montosa Island
Montosa Island is an island just off of Huatulco. It is a gorgeous island that is surrounded by clear waters that are brimming with exotic, diverse and fascinating aquatic life. Because of that, it is a great place to go diving. From yellow-black sea snakes to basking green turtles and billfish, you never know just exactly what you're going to come across around Montosa Island. Montosa island also is excellent for snorkeling.
Bahia Cacaluta
Bahia Cacaluta is another one of Huatulco's shimmering bays. It is located in close proximity to the rocky point of Maguey Bay. It is a good place to go snorkeling, due to its shallow reef that is offshore. The shallow reef is brimming with vibrant and vivid fish of many colors. The easiest way to access Bahia Cacaluta is by being dropped off and picked up by a panga (yacht-style small boats). This is a gorgeous bay that is great for relaxing and engaging in recreational activities.
Bahia Santa Cruz
Bahia Santa Cruz is a fun, lively and bustling bay that is in the midst of central Huatulco. It has it all, including cafes, restaurants, boutiques, resort hotels, supermarkets and a stunning marina. Playa Yerba Buena is a good beach if you like swimming, and Playa La Entrega is wonderful for snorkeling and diving. Be sure to check out the bay's plentiful palapa restaurants, which are usually right by the beach.
