Insider Tips

Since the Wyndham Cozumel Resort and Spa is all-inclusive, the best way to get the most out of the money you are spending is to indulge. The all-inclusive price includes all entertainment, all food and all drinks. This includes alcoholic drinks. There are three bars and four restaurants at the Wyndham Cozumel Resort and Spa, so food and drink are always available. Diet before you get there and plan to diet when you get home. Parents traveling with children should plan to take full advantage of the kids programs. Parents are allowed to leave their children there between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. The kids are supervised by certified professionals. The Wyndham Cozumel Resort and Spa kids program has a private smoothie and soft drink bar, video arcade, organized activities, private kid dining, theme parties and a separate club for teenagers.

Pros and Cons

The Wyndham Cozumel Resort and Spa is located at the far end of Cozumel Island. The drive into the town of Cozumel is about half an hour. Unless you want to take a bus or taxi ride into town, you are stuck at the resort. Many visitors don't mind this since it is such a beautiful place. The resort has 2000 feet of white sand beach, but the currents offshore are always hazardous. You can sit on the beach and wade up to your knees, but swimming is strongly discouraged; the beach is stunning but also potentially deadly. The activities offered by the resort are quite good but many cost extra. These include boating, golf, scuba diving and spa services.

Bottom Line

The Wyndham Cozumel Resort and Spa is an excellent place to visit if you want an all-inclusive resort experience and do not plan to leave the property very often. Traveling into the town of Cozumel is a hassle because of the distance. If you plan to leave the resort frequently, this isn't the resort for you. The all inclusive aspect will suit you well if you eat and drink a lot. If you don't drink alcohol and have to watch your diet closely, you may not get the full advantage of the resort. If you have your heart set on swimming in the ocean, then Cozumel is not the right vacation spot. The current along Cozumel Island, where most of the luxury hotels are located, is treacherous. If you like to sit on the beach and watch the waves, the Wyndham Cozumel Resort and Spa is perfect for you.
