Playa del Carmen is a popular
resort destination in the Yucatan Peninsula of
Mexico, and the restaurants in this community reflect both the fresh seafood and authentic Mayan and Mexican flavors available. Those visiting Playa del Carmen can enjoy some of the most authentic Mexican food available, with or without the use of the fresh fish and shrimp that are widely available at this spot.
Yaxche Maya Cuisine
Yaxche Maya Cuisine offers some of the most authentic Mayan cuisine at Playa del Carmen, as well as an extensive wine list. This spot also intentionally adds a bit of American and European flavor to their dishes in hopes of making the dishes more appealing to tourists. One of the tastiest dishes is arrachera, a grilled flank steak with charcoal chile. Visitors might also want to sample shrimp quesadillas and the ancient Mayan specialty salbutes, which is a soft fried tortilla with turkey and red onions.
