Mexico can conjure up images of white sandy beaches and island resorts. While it may seem like an ideal spot for a romantic getaway, it can also serve as a great place to vacation with kids in tow. Whether traveling with toddlers, tweeners or teenagers, the following places in Mexico will entertain the whole family.

Blessed with miles and miles of pristine beaches, Cancun delivers visitors into a peaceful retreat. Children will find plenty of ways to keep busy as well, namely with romps in the sparkling blue waters of the Caribbean. They may also choose to go snorkeling in the nearby lagoons or pay a visit to the majestic Garrafon Natural Reef Park where they can enjoy a bit of kayaking.

Much like Cancun, Mazatlan houses a series of breathtakingly beautiful beaches. Playa Bruja, a legendary surfing site, provides children with the chance to watch some truly impressive athletes up close and personal. Older children may wish to try their hand at such fun water sports as jet skiing or water skiing. A collection of small islands inhabit the region and can be easily reached by boat. Once there, children can go snorkeling and horseback riding.

As you unwind amidst the relaxing calm of island life, your children will find plenty to do in Cozumel, Mexico's largest Caribbean island. Kids will have a ball exploring the second largest reef in the world, the awe-inspiring Great Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, where they'll discover scores of marine life, coral and other unexpected treasures. Older kids will no doubt find themselves fascinated by San Gervasio, the site of ancient Mayan ruins.

Loreto

Situated along the coast of the Sea of Cortez, Loreto offers adventure in the form of beach camping, which children will find exciting. Take the kids out for a day of fishing, a popular pastime in Loreto, or book a whale watching excursion. Like most Mexican beach towns, plenty of snorkeling and kayaking opportunities abound as well.
