Magic Blue Boutique Hotel Reviews
The Magic Blue Hotel in Playa del Carmen, offers a boutique
resort's charm and attention to detail. The staff learns the names of guests and their preferences for drinks and meals; they strive to get it right every time. The rooms feature soft beds and lots of pillows, as well as updated bathrooms and separate seating for guests. The hotel is situated within sight of a half dozen of Playa del Carmen's most active nightclubs. It is less than a 5-minute walk from the
beach.
Wows and Woes
The hotel is close to amazing night life. The staff is friendly and always willing to go out of their way to ensure that guests are comfortable. Unfortunately, the hotel doesn't sit right on the beach, so late night swimming can be a bit bothersome.
The pool isn't open for long after dark, either. So guests often have to leave the beach early just to be able to catch dinner before the restaurant closes. The food at the restaurant is plentiful, and the vegetables and fruits are fresh and tasty.
Insider Tips
If you like staying out late enjoying local nightlife, try the Coco Bongo. It's the source of most of noise at the resort, and it's a ton of fun for anyone who likes to dance. For a great dinner, avoid the crowds at the on-site restaurant and try the El Diaz Argentinian Steakhouse near the 5th Street shopping center.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
We needed to switch rooms because the air conditioner in our room stopped working. The hotel was happy to oblige and even arranged for us to have a couple's massage at sunset on the beach and dinner afterward free of charge..
Bottom Line
The Magic Blue is great for anyone who wants to avoid the feel of larger hotels. It's a great value, but lacks some amenities found at much larger resorts.
