Playa Azul Hotel
Cozumel,
Mexico, is a lovely place to visit, especially if you want to snorkel or scuba dive, and what makes things even better is the abundance of affordable hotels in this city. One can stay at affordable yet luxurious hotels like the Sabor for less than $100 a night or at a five-star hotel right on the
beach like the Playa Azul Hotel for just under $200.
Wows and Woes
Wows: When it comes to having a leisurely vacation on the beach, the hotels in Cozumel will cater to an experience that few tropical paradises can offer for such a low price.
Woes: The hotels are full of inexperienced tourists and these tourists can be tacky and obnoxious, especially after a few too many drinks.
Insider Tips
Many of the hotels, including the Sabor and the Playa Azul, offer free equipment for snorkeling, sailing and many other sea sports.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
I'm a water baby and every hotel in Cozumel is about the beach, the pool, the bar and the another bar. I stayed at the Playa Azul where I would go back and forth between swimming in the ocean, washing the salt off in the pool and quenching my thirst at the swim-up bar. I barely remember the vacation except that I had a smile on all the time.
Bottom Line
The hotels in Cozumel are cheap, fun and luxurious and the perfect tropical paradise getaway spots.
