Wows and Woes
The best feature of the resort is its beautiful white sand beach. The beach is the nicest within a half mile of the resort, both north and south. The quality of the staff's service is incredible and cannot be praised enough. The food--while bountiful--is bland at best, but the drinks are top-notch.
Insider Tips
Even though tipping is unnecessary to receive good service, a few tips to the bartender or manager will get you top-shelf attention. To get the best loungers, you will need to plant a towel or other marker on a spot early in the morning. A wonderful escape is the air conditioning found in the on-site restaurant, La Claraboya.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
Wading out into the cerulean blue waters directly from the beach is just like walking into a warm bath. With a snorkel mask, it makes the place almost magical. Nothing beats starting a morning like that.
