Mexico's Los Cabos is comprised of two major tourist destinations, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, as well as the corridor connecting them. The entire area lines the beautiful blue waters where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortes intersect. While water sports tend to dominate the itinerary in this region, there are plenty of activities from which to choose, whether on sea or land.
Beaches
Los Cabos contains over 30 miles of beaches, but they are not all of the relax and swim variety. Indeed, many of these beaches have waves, undertow or rocky shorelines that make swimming dangerous or impossible. However, it is this same water that makes sport fishing and deep sea fishing a main attraction in Los Cabos. The region's waters hold marlin, wahoo, swordfish, dorado, snapper, yellowtail, cabrilla and roosterfish, among others.
Spas
Travelers to Los Cabos love to indulge, and there are tons of spas waiting to deliver anything from traditional massages and facials to the latest cutting-edge treatments. Choose from sea mud body wraps, aromatherapy, hot stone massage, detoxification rituals, wine-based treatments, sugar scrubs, volcanic clay baths, herbal steaming in a cave, healing rituals and ancient indigenous treatments.
Recreation
Los Cabos offers the aquatic recreations of boating, diving, snorkeling, underwater photography and swimming. It also offers land-based activities, such as golfing at one of nine major courses. For after-hours recreation, head to the bars, discos and clubs filling Cabo San Lucas, or check out the more mellow scene of the town center in San Jose del Cabo. Dining in the area can be upscale and international, or it can be down-home, featuring the freshest catch of the day prepared to your specifications.
