Athens

Athens is home to some of Greece's finest antiquities, including the Roman Colosseum, the Acropolis, the Temple of Zeus, as well as the National Archaeological Museum. Home to the 2004 Summer Olympics, Athens is beautiful and historical. The atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable with good food and entertainment served up in the area's best restaurants.

Delphi

Ancient Greeks revered this sacred site. The Greek sun god, Apollo, created an oracle at the spring to give guidance to anyone who needed it. This area has delicious places to eat and variety of hotels and is only a 2.5 hour drive from Athens. Visit the Delphi Museum, which houses items from as far back as the sixth century B.C., the Sanctuary of Apollo and the Sanctuary of Athena.

Corinth

Corinth is another beautiful and ancient city located 48 miles from Athens. The apostle Paul visited Corinth many times during his ministry. It was first built during the Neolithic period and thrived as a major city before being destroyed by the Romans in 146 B.C. Visit the Temple of Apollo, the Temple of Octavia and the ruins of the Temple of Aphrodite on Acrocorinth, the acropolis of ancient Corinth.

Crete

Another ancient city mentioned in the bible is Crete. The largest island in Greece, Crete has beautiful churches, beaches and harbors. It offers a wide variety of outdoor activities, including snorkeling, hiking, fishing and climbing. For those who prefer less strenuous activities, Crete is also famous for its nightlife, good food and beach resorts.

Santorini

Santorini is often visited with Crete and is home to a very large volcano. The volcano is Santorini's most famous attraction. Santorini's beaches are known for having black sand and deep blue waters. Museums abound on the island and include the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Prehistoric Thera, the Folklore Museum, the Wine Museum and the Naval Museum.

Kefalonia

The atmosphere in Kefalonia is calm and relaxed. The main village in Kefalonia is Argostoli and has a population of only 14,000. Located on the island is the monastery church of St. Gerasimos, patron saint of the island. Under the church is a cave built by the saint himself; he used the cave as his residence and a place to pray. Other island attractions include several area beaches, cave of Drogarati and the Kefalonia Archaeological Museum. Kefalonia is also a source of the nightlife scene with bars and restaurants that stay open until early morning.

Rhodes

The island of Rhodes is beautiful with old cobblestones streets and medieval architecture. The Knights of the Order of St. John resided on this island. The Old Town is registered with UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Visit the Clock Tower, built in 1851, for breathtaking views of Old Town.
