The cost of traveling to
Europe depends on your destination, travel dates and length of stay. The Internet is a fantastic tool to help you easily search for European travel packages from the comfort of your home. Whether traveling to Europe for business of pleasure, customize your search through travel websites such as Expedia, Priceline and Orbitz to find the package that meets your needs.
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step 1
Establish your budget, travel dates, length of stay and where you want to go.
Step 2
To save money, try to book your plane ticket and make your hotel/hostel reservation at least six months in advance. The closer you are to your departure date, the more expensive the tickets will be.
Step 3
Travel during the off seasons, between November and early March, when there are fewer tourists and prices are lower. The heart of summer--June through August--sees flight and lodging prices rise due to greater demand.
Step 4
Compare prices and packages on websites such as Expedia, Priceline and Orbitz (see resources). It is usually not advisable to call an airline such as Alitalia directly to book a flight. Prices will likely be higher than if you purchase your ticket via a third-party travel website.
Step 5
Search for "Last Minute Deals" to Europe. The three travel websites mentioned have last-minute deals that include flights and lodging. Make sure you read the fine print and policies before purchasing.
Step 6
Search for European travel packages, especially if you're planning a multi-destination trip. European packages are budget-friendly because they include round-way tickets, lodging and commuting through all the cities you visit.
Step 7
Book lodging close to the areas you want to spend time sightseeing. In metropolitan areas, it's best to stay just a little out of the city, but within a reasonably short distance of major tourist spots.
Step 8
Buy tourist passes, especially when traveling through popular tourist destinations such as Rome. Passes admit you to numerous tourist attractions.
