City of Salzburg

Salzburg is famous for its churches and as the setting of The Sound of Music. Take a day tour to all the movie's sights and visit the famous Mirabell Palace gardens. Hohensalzburg is a white fortress on a mountain overlooking the city, where it houses local art collections. Salzburg is also the birthplace of Mozart, so visit the Mozarteum, which is the college of music where Mozart wrote "The Magic Flute."

Hohe Tauern National Park

This park is one of the last great wilderness areas in all of Europe, and is at the feet of Austria's largest mountains. Its abundant wildlife includes goats, sheep, ibex, chamois, a large variety of birds and deer. There are also several ski and snowboarding slopes, as well as hiking and nature trails.

Eisriesenwelt Caves

These wondrous caves were discovered in 1879 and are considered the largest ice caves in the world. They are open for guided tours of ice formations, frozen waterfalls and glaciers. Tours run from May to October.

The Swarovski Kristallweltern (Crystal Walk)

The Swarovski Kristallwelten (Crystal Walk) Visitor Centre is dripping with crystals, from crystal fir trees to large scale chandeliers and gloves, to entire domes. See the Crystal Planet, Crystal Theater, Crystal Dome, Crystal Meditation, Ice Lane and Crystal Calligraphy. There are also restaurants, stores, gardens and other sights.
