The Hotel Chatillon Paris Montparnasse has a quiet location in a small cul-de-sac away from Paris' city center. Metro stops are nearby for a quick trip to the city center. All rooms at the Hotel Chatillon Paris have free Wi-Fi access. All rooms are non-smoking. A breakfast dining area is available, and there is also room service all day.
Wows and Woes
A luggage hold room is available if you arrive before check-in time. There is no charge to store your luggage in the room. Each time you come into the hotel, a staff member opens the door as if you are in a luxury hotel.
The Wi-Fi signal in the room is a bit weak, but there is also free Wi-Fi in the lobby that has a strong signal. There are no clocks in the rooms, which means you have to ask for a wake-up call if you did not bring your own alarm clock.
Insider Tips
Book your room on the official website to save money. The 2009 normal room price is 110 Euros and the website lists 85 Euros. The closest Metro station is Alesia, and it takes around 10 minutes to walk to the station. Several restaurants are within walking distance, including McDonald's, Pizza Hut and a Japanese restaurant. Attempt to speak French to the staff for friendlier service. Don't worry, they will switch to English for you.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
The hotel staff spoke limited English, and I knew hardly any French, so when I asked how long the walk to the Eiffel Tower was, they told me 15 minutes. My aching feet discovered it was almost double that. Apparently, the front desk thought I was taking the Metro as that ride is around 15 minutes to the Eiffel Tower.
Bottom Line
This hotel is incredibly inexpensive for Paris, and it is clean and comfortable. It is also very quiet because of its location.
