Review of Bellevue Apartments in Majorca

Sea Coves in Majorca, Spain
This is an all-inclusive hotel with apartment-style accommodations. Bellevue offers studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments suiting couples, groups and families on vacation. Prices at Bellevue are remarkably low, and in this case it is clear that you get what you pay for.

Rooms are outfitted with sparse amenities but do have telephones, safe boxes, private bathrooms and refrigerators. The two-bedroom apartments can sleep up to four people. The decor and furnishings in the rooms are bland and lackluster, but this may not be of issue for those who want to spend most of their time on the beach.

Bellevue has on-site parking, which is important as most guests who stay here will want to rent a car. Located in Alcudia, the hotel is on the other side of the island from Palma, the capital, about an hour's drive from the airport.

Guests who rent a car will also be able to explore the island and the many hidden coves and beaches dotting the northeastern side of Majorca. While Alcudia will be packed in the summer with international tourists, those with rented wheels will be able to take off on day trips to get away from the crowds.

For families, Bellevue offers snack and refreshments throughout the day for guests who opt for the all-inclusive price. In the evening, entertainment such as bingo is provided.

It's hard to imagine how such budget all-inclusive resorts can make a profit and keep the doors open. The way they seem to cut corners is in the food. Most of the guests who have stayed at the Bellevue have complained about the quality of the buffet, which is included in the all-inclusive price. While at first it may be tempting to save some cash on meals and go the all-inclusive route, some guests may find the Bellevue meal selection boring or tasteless and therefore opt to dine out.

If guests do decide to eat away from the hotel, the area around Bellevue has lots to offer. This is a resort town, and so there are cafes, bars and restaurants geared toward tourists. Alcudia also has an old center, called Old Town, that dates back to 1300, which is more traditional Mallorquin than the rest of the zone.

It is always a toss-up, especially for young families on a budget: Quality or quantity? In an all-inclusive apartment hotel like Bellevue, families will have pools, the beach, games and foods from home to keep them happy. However, the service and quality Bellevue offers is of a very low category and visitors should be aware of this.

Bellevue's only major perk is its beach, which is lovely. And the shallow calm waters in the Alcudia Bay make for good swimming. There are also many family centered day trips, like rides along the coastline in glass-bottomed boats, that families can partake in.

All in all, this is a budget choice that may leave some people disappointed, located in a pretty--albeit touristy--beach town.
