One of the most common and convenient ways to travel around the United Kingdom is by rail. Whether it is a subway, light rail or train, these lines travel as far as the Highlands of Scotland.
National Rail
One of the most popular lines in the U.K. is the National Rail. This line is the national service of England and also travels well into Wales, Scotland and Irelandl.
Virgin Rail
Virgin Rail is a discount train that travels short distances between cities as well as deep into Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Virgin Rail is the quickest way to reach Liverpool from London's King's Cross Station.
Arriva
Arriva is one of the most well-known train companies in Europe, where it travels to all the major cities.
Eurostar
Eurostar operates a Chunnel train that travels between London and Paris, crossing the English Channel in the famous underwater tunnel. Its London base is the St. Pancras Station.
Underground
When traveling in London and its suburbs, you can take the London Underground. This subway system is quick and inexpensive, and it has many stops across the city.
