Living in Europe is very different from living in America. Customs and traditions differ. Everything from buying bread at the grocery store to going to a movie will require some adjustments. However, Europe has a lot to offer in terms of culture and history.

Before going, it will be necessary to apply for a visa or residence permit if you plan on staying for more than three months. This can be obtained from the consulate of the country you are going to live in.

Electricity

The electricity current is 220 volts as opposed to 110. That means you will need a converter.

Languages

Although English is widely taught, many people do not speak it. There are 23 official languages of European Union.

Currency

The official currency of the European Union is the Euro; however, not all countries in the Union have yet adopted it.

Benefits

Travel in Europe is easy and affordable. That's because distances between countries and cities are much shorter than in the United States.
