List of Cheapest Airlines to Italy

When planning a trip to Italy, the first concern is what the cost of airfare is going to be. While airfare has declined in recent months, international flights, of course, are going to cost more since more fuel, time and energy are used. Those traveling inside Europe will have the best rates. However, shopping around does help a great deal in finding the least expensive flights. Round-trip fare from New York, Los Angeles and Dallas all offer reasonable prices.
American Airlines

American Airlines offers flights from JFK Airport in New York to Rome Italy for a modest fare. The key to finding the least expensive fares is to travel during off-season, such as January through April. What makes the American Airlines economy flight to Italy attractive it is nonstop and costs the same as--and in some instances less than--those with connecting flights. The flights to Italy offer snacks, drinks and brunch, depending upon the time the aircraft is in flight.

The flights on Northwest do have a connecting flight, normally in Paris, but it is under two hours between flights. On the return flight, there is normally a connecting flight as well. Depending on the time of day of the flight, Northwest will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and drinks.

Ryanair

Ryanair has been in service since 1985 and was set up by the Ryan family with a tiny staff of 25--its first aircraft was a 15-seat Bandeirante that operated daily and managed to fly 5,000 passengers in its first year in operation. Today, Ryanair carries 42.5 million passengers each year due to its low fares and great customer service. Just like with other airlines, off-season offers the cheapest airfares. It serves snacks or meals, depending on the time of day the flight is scheduled.
