Facts About Disney World in Paris
After the success of Disneyland, Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland, Disney decided to open a park in
Europe. It chose France for its new venture and opened Disneyland Paris.
History
Disneyland Paris opened in 1992 to mixed reviews from the French media. In 2002, Disneyland Paris added a second park to the Magic Kingdom with the opening of the Walt Disney Studios.
Location
Disneyland Paris is not actually in Paris. It is 20 miles from Paris, in the suburb of Marne-la-Vallee.
Size
Disneyland Paris sits on almost 5,000 acres and is one-fifth the size of Paris.
Attendance
With 50 million visitors per year, Disneyland Paris is France's most visited tourist attraction, accounting for 4 percent of the French tourism industry revenue. Approximately 40 percent of visitors are French, and half of those are from Paris.
Attractions
Much like its sister property in Florida, Disneyland Paris is a complete destination with theme parks (five "lands" of entertainment), several hotels, entertainment center, campground, 27-hole golf course, shops, shows and restaurants.
