London is one of the largest cities in the world, and draws millions of visitors annually. With attractions that are world-known--Buckingham Palace, for example--London is one of the most sought-after vacation destinations.
Population
London is home to 59 million people (as of 2001). It is the eighteenth largest city in the world by population and size.
Size
London and its metropolitan area is 244,820 square km.
Boroughs
London is divided into different boroughs. When traveling around London, people will refer to certain areas by different names, such as Westminster, Richmond, Hackney or Greenwich.
Top Attractions
Some of the most popular attractions in London are found in Westminster, mostly along the River Thames. These attractions include the London Eye, The Houses of Parliament, Tower of London, Tower Bridge Exhibit and the Shakespeare Globe Theater. Other popular attractions include London Dungeons, Madame Tussaud's and the Original Sightseeing Tour.
Travel
There are four main ways of travel in London. The most convenient way to travel is using the Underground--London's subway--because it is quickest and reaches every part of London. Buses and trains are also available. However, the most famous way of travel in London is by taxi.
