Italy is the site of some of the world's most beloved attractions. Italy is also an excellent place for a
family vacation. Children enjoy Venice during Carnevale, when residents don costumes even to shop city streets. Teens and young children alike have fun walking Rome's Villa Borghese where they can see a well-tended garden and zoo as well as a museum of natural history. Further south lies the island of Capri where children can swim in the blue waters of the island's many
beaches and then take the open air funicular to the top of the island's mountain center.
Carnevale in Venice
Venice is a city located in the northern part of Italy. Carnevale is a historical Venetian celebration dating back over three centuries. During this time, residents and visitors alike walk the Venetian streets dressed in costumes. Visitors may don masks or go for full-fledged heavily detailed costume copied from one of Marie Antoinette's dresses. Children adore visiting Venice during this time. They can make their own masks. They can create their own costumes. Older children can participate in a Venetian costume ball or have fun just people watching.
Villa Borghese
Villa Borghese is a large city park in Rome. The Villa Borghese is home to many fine museums, including one of the world's best art museums. This much-traveled park has several attractions children will enjoy. When not admiring sculpture gardens or having a picnic by a lake under a shady tree, children can visit the Bioparco di Roma, one of Italy's largest zoos and home to dozens of fascinating wildlife. The Villa Borghese is also home to the Museo Civico di Zoologia di Roma, a natural history museum with interactive exhibits designed especially for children.
Capri
Capri is a small island close to the Italian coastline. Capri has been a favorite Italian destination for centuries. This rocky verdant place has much to offer children. Most people who travel to Capri travel by quick high-speed boat. Most boats have scenic views where you can look out and see the Italian coast. The island itself has many beaches where children can go swimming in warm waters. Once there, sample local lemon cookies or Italian ices made from home-grown citrus fruits. Children have fun taking an open air funicular to the top of the island. From Monte Solaro, you can see for miles. The ride is pleasant and inexpensive.
