The Best Season for Travel to Germany
Any season of the year is an excellent time to visit Germany, depending on your interests. Spring is known for springtime blooms and Easter traditions and is a less crowded season. Summertime is full of cultural and music festivals. Fall is the season of Oktoberfest. And winter is known for its Christmas markets and ski season.
Spring

Though weather during the spring season in Germany is a bit unpredictable, you can still expect to have an enjoyable visit during this time period. Easter season is an excellent time to visit and experience Germany's Easter traditions. One benefit of this season is that you can enjoy many of the country's sites without the summertime crowds.

Summer

Summertime season is the high season for tourists in Germany. The weather is great (if a bit warm) and museums and other attractions are often open for extended hours. The downside of visiting Germany in the summer is that you will face larger crowds than in any other season.

Fall

Autumn is Oktoberfest season. If you love beer, this is the time to visit Germany. The Oktoberfest celebration in Munich lasts from mid-September to early October.

Winter

Don't count out winter as a time to visit Germany. During this season you can take advantage of the Christmas markets (Christkindlmarkt). These markets begin in late November and last until just before Christmas Day. Attractions at the markets include a nativity scene, carol singing, food stalls (including traditional foods such as stollen, hot mulled wine and gingerbread) and handmade items such as toys and Christmas ornaments.
