An American meal.
Boasting cheaper prices and more unexplored terrain than most other areas of
Europe, Serbia is drawing more and more tourists each year. Sometimes after a day of tracking rare wildlife or trekking through unspoiled terrain, it's comforting to tuck into an American-style meal. With a renewed tourism industry comes a wider range of restaurants, and American restaurants in Serbia are no exception.
Cosy Restaurant and Bar
With a chic, mellow ambiance, Cosy is one of the more popular American restaurants in Belgrade, Serbia. The menu is similar to any continental restaurant you would find in the States, with a bit of a Mediterranean flair. Familiar sights such as Caesar salad and a variety of steaks will be welcome to road-weary expatriates, and the dessert menu even features an American Pie, the perfect end to a traditional meat-and-potatoes meal. Happy hour, another distinctly American tradition, brings with it such specials as free pizza with the purchase of a cocktail on Thursdays, and two-for-one cocktails on Fridays, making it quite popular with the trendy after-work crowd in Belgrade.

Restaurant 27
A quirky addition to the Serbian upscale dining scene, Restaurant 27 specializes in mystery and offers cryptic numerology-based specials, including the fact that on the 27th visit to the restaurant, your bill will be reduced by 27%. There is a specific ambiance to the decorations and menu, which is divided up into such sections as "music" and "journey." While the staff here would not necessarily define their menu as a strictly American restaurant, there are certainly some dishes that would fall into this category. These include a variety of garden salads, catfish, steaks and dessert items that will be familiar to any Westerner, set amidst the more ambitious offerings such as deer prosciutto. A good way to experience the subtle themes of this restaurant would be to ask for suggestions from the knowledgeable waitstaff.

Stratus Club
From chicken pot pie to macaroni and cheese, the Stratus Club in the town of Novi Sad is a Serbian American restaurant outside Belgrade's city limits. The food here is strictly comfort-based and is a good way to fill up after a long day spent exploring the ruins of the surrounding countryside. With nightly live music and a range of ice cream floats for dessert, this is a good stop for families or solo travelers who wish to make some new friends. There are vegetarian options, which is rare in this country, as well as a full wine list featuring some of the finest local offerings.
