Admiral Hotel in Sorrento Reviews

Sorrento is Portofino's poorer cousin, but an equally beautiful seaside town and The Admiral Hotel has the distinction of being the only hotel right by the sea. This small, relaxed hotel of 63 rooms is a good choice for a budget traveler who wants to experience the southern coast of Italy, but has limited funds. Although amenities are sparse at The Admiral, you won't notice as the charm and beauty take over.
Wows and Woes

No place in Italy along the southern coast will you find a hotel for under 100 Euros with an ocean view, except The Admiral Hotel.

The rooms are sparse and basic to the point you feel it's your kid's college dorm room.

Insider Tips

Wake up early, walk down to the docks, find a local fisherman, pick your fresh fish, ask his wife to cook it, bring it back to your terrace with a view at the hotel. Enjoy.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

I discovered Sorrento by accident when I missed the boat to Capri and ended up in this charming beach side town. It was breakfast time and I walked into a local seafood restaurant craving, what else, seafood for breakfast. Even for Italians this is strange, but the cook, a lovely woman in her seventies, happily made a Linguine con Vongole for me and threw in a glass of Valpolicella.

Bottom Line

Sorrento is beautiful and The Admiral is well-situated and reasonably priced. ensuring it is worth the time spent staying there.
