South Padre Island is on the southern tip of Texas, where it touches the Gulf of
Mexico. Warm tropical waters and beautiful, unspoiled
beaches make this place a frequent tourist destination. Fishing is one of the more popular pastimes in the area.
Spring
Spring In South Padre Island brings moderate temperatures. March, April and May are spawning season for trout, which often are in abundance. While the fish are breeding, they tend to be hungrier and in shallower water.
Winter
During the winter, temperatures are usually in the 60s and 70s--a good time of year to go surf fishing. South Padre is home to the world's largest surf fishing tournament every February. Sheephead are also known to bite in the bay during this time of year.

Fall
Many people say fall is the best time of year for fishing in Texas. Red fish are particularly hungry. Fall is when the red fish spawn; they can be found on beachfronts up and down the Gulf of Mexico. Deep sea fishing is also popular at this time of year.
