How to Purchase Games for a 5th Generation iPod
The fifth-generation iPod is also referred to as the "iPod Video." It is a discontinued product that has since been replaced with the iPod Classic. It was the first iPod that could use its screen to play videos in addition to music. Though it cannot download and run any of the thousands of applications in iTunes' App Store, a section of the iTunes Store is set aside for purchasing games that will work on the fifth-generation iPod.

Step 1

Open iTunes. You can do this by clicking on its icon on your desktop or by selecting its icon from your computer's "Start" menu.

Step 2

Click on the "iTunes Store" icon on the left side of the main iTunes window.

Step 3

Click on the option that reads "iPod Games" under the "iTunes Store" menu on the left of the screen. This will bring up a list of games that are formatted specifically to work with the fifth-generation iPod (as well as certain generations of the iPod Nano and the iPod Classic).

Step 4

Select a game. You can browse categories of games by price or genre. By clicking on a game's name, you can read more about it.

Step 5

Click "Buy Game." If you are not already signed in, you will be prompted to enter your iTunes Store account information. If you do not already have an iTunes Account, follow the prompt on screen to create one. The game will then be downloaded to your computer, and your credit or debit card will be charged for its price.
