Belize is a tropical Central American country with plenty of interesting sites to see. If you love nature, Belize is the vacation destination for you. Packed with verdant jungles and alive with roaming jaguars, this lush country also has soaring waterfalls, desolate
beaches and small villages with big hearts to visit. If you plan on visiting Belize to see some of its interesting places, bring some sun block, bug spray and a sense of adventure.
Belize Foundation for Research & Environmental Education
The Belize Foundation for Research & Environmental Education, or BFREE, is an organization dedicated to researching the Belize jungle and its animal inhabitants. This center also educates visitors on the rain forest climate and ways you can help preserve the habitat of the Belize wildlife. You can stay at this center in either a bunkhouse or thatched hut for camping. Solar electricity is used for all the phones, fax and other electrical equipment in the camp. There is a kitchen and organic garden that provides three meals a day for visitors.

Placencia Village
This casual and laid-back village on the southern coast of Belize has a tagline, "Barefoot Perfect." This charming and rustic fishing village is a perfect point to start a jungle river tour, shop or lay back on the white, powdery sands of the beaches. You can even visit the narrowest street in the world, according to Guinness World Records. If nature is more your style, between February and May, you can swim with the enormous whale sharks while they migrate in the warm waters off Placencia.
Tours of Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary
Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary is a 100,000 acres of tropical forest, located in the Maya Mountains. Take a guided tour to this sanctuary, the world's first " jaguar reserve" that is meant to help save the local jaguar population as well as the other jungle animals in the basin. This preserve is located in the shadow of Victoria Peak, the second highest mountain in Belize. Bring hiking boots, for there are extensive hiking trails all over the basin. Bring a camera to snap a shot of Ben's Bluff Waterfall. There are camping accommodations as well as cooking facilities at the campground.
