About Things to Do at Playa Flamingo in Costa Rica
Playa Flamingo, located on the Gold Coast region of western Costa Rica, has some of the best
beaches in the country. It also has the largest sea port in Costa Rica, named Flamingo Marina. With the help of the marina, you can find exciting things to do in Playa Flamingo that deal with water and boating. You'll also get to see an amazing tropical forest.
Deep Sea Fishing
Because of the large port in Playa Flamingo, one of the most popular things to do there is deep sea fishing. Whether you rent your own boat or sign up for a guided tour, fishing in these waters can be a lot of fun. Expect to find an abundance of tuna, marlin, snapper and swordfish. These big game fishes take a bit of muscle to wrestle out of the water, but it will make for a unique vacation story. Visit the Flamingo Marina while in Playa Flamingo to experience deep sea fishing.
Santa Rosa National Park
While the beaches provide a lot of entertainment in Playa Flamingo, don't miss the tropical forests found inland. The Santa Rosa National Park is the largest and oldest national park in Costa Rica. Inside, you'll get to see both the wildlife and vegetation inhabiting this wild and natural tropical dry forest. You can go on a guided tour of the park, or you can hike through the beautiful wilderness on your own. Many hotels in Playa Flamingo have charter packages for those who wish to see the park.
Scuba Diving
For scuba diving enthusiasts, Playa Flamingo is the place to be. You can swim amidst these waters all year round, making this a good vacation spot no matter when you plan to go. Since there are a load of fine beaches all along the western Costa Rican coastline, you'll be able to find great un-crowded diving waters. You can find businesses that rent out scuba diving equipment at the Flamingo Marina. With your equipment in tow, you'll see exotic fish such as snapper and tuna.
