Costa Rica is a beautiful country located in
Central America. It is also one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. With the nation's many picturesque
beaches, volcanoes, rainforests and lakes, there is no shortage of exciting things to do and see while vacationing there. There are a lot of great recreational activities to do while in Costa Rica as well.
Surfing
Costa Rica is extremely popular with surfers. This is because of the excellent point breaks, perfect lefts and beach breaks. It is one of the leading surfing hot spots. The Costa Rican shoreline boasts over fifty well-known surf breaks. With the warm, coastal, pleasant climate, plentiful reef breaks and massive waves, it's no surprise that Costa Rica is a dream surfing locale. A couple of the best beaches for surfing in Costa Rica include Playa Avellana and Playa Hermosa.
Scuba Diving
Scuba diving is popular water activity to partake in while in Costa Rica. Costa Rica has a mesmerizing array of underwater marine life, and scuba diving is the perfect way to see all of it from up close. The water temperature remains ideal for scuba diving all year round. Some of the best scuba diving zones in the country are on the Pacific Coast, off of Drake Bay and Bahia Drake. From giant manta rays to schools of fish, scuba diving is one of the most exciting Costa Rican activities.
Canopy Tours
Canopy Tours are very popular in Costa Rica, and are a thrilling, adrenaline-packed way to explore the country's exquisite rainforests. On a canopy tour, a person soars through the sky on zip lines (with the assistance of a safety harness), traveling from platform to platform, swinging from tree to tree. This is an adventurous way to get a look at the diverse flora and fauna that exists in Costa Rica's rainforests.
Whitewater Rafting
Whitewater rafting is popular in Costa Rica, as it is often mentioned as being one of the top places in the world in which to do so. Whitewater rafting is an exhilarating way to revel in the natural scenery of Costa Rica, and get a look at its diverse and fascinating wildlife. Whether you want to tumble down the mountains through roaring rivers or perhaps enjoy a milder experience, Costa Rica has something to offer for everyone who is interested in whitewater rafting. Some of the best areas for whitewater rafting in Costa Rica are Corobici, Sarapiqui and Rios Pacuare.
Golfing
Out of the water, Costa Rica is full of excellent golf courses and resorts. The Guanacaste province is particularly full of golf courses. From nine hole golf courses to eighteen hole golf courses, or golf courses tailored to beginners or to experts, the country has plenty of beautiful and high quality golfing resorts to choose from. Many of the golf courses are of world class quality and set to some of the most beautiful, picturesque backdrops around.
