Travel to Barbados
If you're thinking of taking a
Caribbean vacation, consider Barbados. It has sandy white
beaches and sparkling clear water, and the island is often less crowded than other popular Caribbean destinations. But before you head off to paradise, you may want to do some advance planning.
Passports and Visas
A valid passport is required for entry into Barbados. Citizens from Eastern European countries, Taiwan, China, Pakistan, African countries, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil and Venezuela will need to have a valid Barbados visa, which can be obtained at the airport and costs $50. There also is a required $50 departure tax when you leave the island.
Airlines
Many airlines fly into Barbados' Grantley Adams International Airport, including American Airlines, Delta Airlines and U.S. Airways. Some inter-island airlines include Air Jamaica, Caribbean Star and American Eagle.
Accommodations
The hotels in Barbados range from internationally recognized hotel chains to numerous options for smaller budges. Visitors can choose from large hotels with all-inclusive packages, to family-owned and operated boutique inns, and everything in between.
Attractions
Aside from the wonderful beaches, there are many museums and historical places to see in Barbados. Visitors will find the Barbados Museum, the George Washington house, Sunbury Plantation House and Museum and the Morgan Lewis Sugar Mill, to name a few.
Things to Do
Barbados offers visitors excellent SCUBA opportunities. Snorkelers will find reefs and hundreds of sea creatures, and hikers will enjoy the strolling guided tours.
