A Travel Guide to St. Lucia

St. Lucia is one of the jewels of the Caribbean, ideal for honeymooners and adventurers. With its thick jungles, quaint beach towns and daunting Pitons that jut out of the ocean and up to the sky, this island can provide as much outdoor excitement as it does relaxed luxury.
Getting There

Most travelers arrive by cruise ship at Castries harbor, or by air at Hewanorra International Airport or the smaller, regional George FL Charles Airport. Ferries connect the island to Martinique, Guadeloupe and Dominica.

Getting Around

To get around on St. Lucia, renting a car is ideal. Local minivans ply the roads connecting all towns.

Weather and When to Go

Winter (December to March) sees average highs of 81 degrees F and is high season. Summer has highs of 85 degrees F, and hurricane season is from June to October.

Attractions

Among heaps of other attractions, be sure to check out St. Lucia's iconic, towering Pitons, enjoy diving, cuisine and culture at Soufrière, and spend some time on the beach at Marigot Bay.

Money

The Eastern Caribbean Dollar is used in St. Lucia, although the U.S. dollar is often accepted.
