International teens in Puerto Rico can find many things to do that will be fun and enjoyable, regardless of their personal preferences. From shopping and hiking to surfing and parasailing, there are so many fun things for teens in Puerto Rico.
The Beaches
Any teen will love the beaches in Puerto Rico, with the white sand and crystal clear water. Pine Grove beach is the best for swimming and the best family beach is Luquillo Beach. International teens interested in surfing should check out Steps, Tres Palmas, Domes and Puntas. Windsurfing is great at the Condado Lagoon. Flamenco is one of the most popular beaches and has great windsurfing and links to other amazing beaches.
Hiking the Rain Forest
A visit to El Yunque National Forest is highly recommended for international teens interested in seeing the only rain forest in a U.S. territory. There are many trails that lead to beautiful lookouts and teens could easily handle these alone. The rain forest is very lush and it can be quite wet, so closed toe shoes and a rain jacket are recommended.
Rio Camuy Caves
International teens will love the Rio Camuy Caves. This is the location of the world's third largest underground river. The river runs through caverns and caves, sinkholes, and there are many entrances throughout the island. Teens can enjoy the Rio Camuy Caves in a couple of hours and should wear walking shoes.
Arecibo Observatory
Observing the radio/radar telescope at the Arecibo Observatory is a great learning experience for international teens. This is the largest telescope of its kind in the world and the most sensitive. The dish covers more than 20 acres and is located in a sinkhole. Tours are available and this is a great experience for anyone visiting Puerto Rico.
