Review of Sandals Montego Bay

Sandals Montego Bay
Sandals Montego Bay
Sandals Montego Bay is the first resort in the chain's history and one of seven in Jamaica. Renovated in 2005, the 26-acre resort located on Montego Bay has six restaurants, 18 room levels and the resort chain's private-label Red Lane Spa. Sandals resorts are known for their all-inclusive benefits. Meals, alcohol and recreation are included for one price and no tipping is permitted.
Wows and Woes

The ocean views from the beach are simply amazing. The Oleander Room's white glove service accents an eclectic local menu.

The constantly running air conditioning and lack of ventilation makes for musty smells in some rooms.

Insider Tips

Bartenders and Playmakers (the resort recreation staff) are there to enhance the quality of the trip. They are always helpful when looking for off-resort tourist suggestions. In lieu of tips, guests can leave names of noteworthy staff on comment cards. Staff are recognized by the company for their service.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

My five-night stay in 2007 was one of the best I've had at a Sandals resort. Staff went out of their way to accommodate me and my sensitive allergies to dust and mold. The Oleander Room and Bayside Restaurant are four- or five-star quality, presenting a tremendous value for the all-inclusive price.

Bottom Line

Sandals Montego Bay is one of the chain's most underrated and best loved properties.
