Caribbean Princess Cruise Review
The Caribbean Princess ship is the largest ship in the Princess fleet, and is ideal for young adult travelers and families. It offers a large selection of state rooms, which range from an interior room to a grand suite with a balcony view. The abundance of activities and amenities makes sure that a cruise of any length has more than enough options to fill the guests' time. These include five pools, a 9-hole golf course, a variety of night-life choices and 24-hour food service.
Insider Tips

The Caribbean Princess treats its return customers extremely well. If you are a return customer checking in, ask for a room upgrade. More often than not, they will upgrade your room to one with a balcony and view which usually runs around $300 more than an interior room. There are several free activities not listed on the Web site for the Caribbean Princess. During the day, the large on-deck pool is filled with families and children, while the pool toward the back of the ship is more quiet with mostly adults. The poolside chairs fill up by noon. A nightclub for cruisers 18 and older overhangs the back of the ship, and a variety of movies are shown under the stars each night with complimentary food and blankets. Entertainment includes comedy tours, dance shows and country line dancing lessons. Read the Princess Cruise newsletters that are delivered each morning to find these. The Asian-themed luxurious Lotus Spa offers exotic-themed massages for couples and groups. The dining options cater to every age group and mood from poolside pizza joints to the formal wear only Botticelli Dining Room. There is 24-hour room service and free Internet. On the last night of your cruise, venture downstairs for the signature champagne fountain toast, that provides unlimited champagne. Fine jewelers from the islands set up booths next to the boutique shops and fine art gallery. A wedding chapel is also available in case any guests choose to tie the knot.

Pros and Cons

The Caribbean Princess cruise offers so many activities, you find yourself not knowing what you want to do first. The food is delicious, and the service is very oriented toward the guests, but it is best to make reservations at the restaurants. The employees seem to jump at the chance to assist you with anything. The decor and cleanliness is strictly cared for and relaxing. There are places for children and teens to hang out and stay while being supervised, if the families wish to split up. On the other hand, although the Caribbean Princess caters well to young travelers and families at once (pretty much because the ship is so big it can spread out the action), it becomes tiresome pinpointing the activities that you want to do without children. The Movies Under the Stars activity is romantic, but many children run around even if it is a mature audience film. It is difficult to find an open hot tub anytime of day or night, unless you go very late, such as after midnight. On the boat, there is one of the largest floating casinos, but you have to pass through it to get to many different places on the ship. Staying in an interior room does not live up to the cruise experience. Investing in a balcony room is a much better option, but can be expensive. When the ship docks, it provides only a half day for guests to roam the islands, which is not enough if people want to shop, dine or snorkel.

Bottom Line

If you are going to go on the Caribbean Princess cruise, it is best to invest in a balcony suite room for the space and cruise experience. The numerous activities, shows, relaxation options and entertainment will keep you busy for the whole cruise, but if you wish to relax and not do any activities, there are places you can go such as the spa, adult pool, lounges, or promenade deck. It is a beautiful, clean and very large ship with customer service oriented staff. The dining options are abundant, but you need to make reservations if you wish to attend any of the fancier restaurants, or else there is a long wait .This is something that should be recommended. The amount of time spent on the islands off the ship was unsatisfactory, but the staff provide you with information and facts about the island in hopes that you will plan your time wisely.
