The Turks and Caicos islands are known as a tropical paradise within the
Caribbean. Their white, sandy shores sit just steps away from crystal-clear, turquoise-hued waters where visitors can snorkel, scuba, fish and much more. There are 40 islands and cays within Turks and Caicos, and only eight have been inhabited. While this group of islands caters to those seeking new adventures and explorations, the islands'
beaches reign supreme. If you're planning to visit Turks and Caicos in the near future, read on to take a look at the country's best beaches.
Grace Bay
Steeped in luxury, Grace Bay has been deemed the best beach in Turks and Caicos, if not the world, by top travel critics. Located in Providenciales, the beach here is noted for its extensive coral reefs, which make it a haven for snorkelers and divers. An array of luxury resorts and hotels sit along its 12 miles of beach, along with decadent restaurants that feature five-star takes on local dishes. Even if you don't get into the water here, just lounging on the shore and taking in the picturesque scene can be fulfilling.
Governor's Beach
Governor's Beach in Grand Turk is also one of the country's most popular beaches. The powder-white sand and clear waters of this beach make it popular among those who crave underwater exploration. The beach is surrounded by pine trees and is so appealing that photos of it are often used for Turks and Caicos tourism publications. It is also close to Gibbs Cay, which is considered one of the best dive sites in Grand Turk. Gibbs Cay is also home to a bevy of stingrays and underwater life. Guests who want to grab a bite to eat after they've explored Governor's Beach can have a picnic lunch on the sand underneath the beach's pine trees.
Bambarra Beach
Bambarra Beach is home to Turks and Caicos' annual Valentine's Day Cup, in which locals and tourists alike head out to the beach for a sailboat race. In honor of Valentine's Day, party-goers cook barbecue on the beach and dance to live music. In August, the beach becomes packed again with an all-day party filled with music, food, parades and pageants. Participants can also enjoy live entertainment, sailing races, bonfires, straw-weaving competitions and more.
In addition to these events, Bambarra Beach is also known for its gorgeous shores and shallow waters that are perfect for snorkeling, swimming and wading.
