Jamaica is a lush tropical location that many tourists visit each year. Jamaica is known for its friendly people, its exotic wildlife and its romantic getaways. However, Jamaica is probably best known for its beautiful beaches. So, when a tourist is planning a trip to Jamaica, it is very important that he or she knows more information about the best Jamaican beaches.
Doctor's Cove Beach

Doctor's Cove beach is located in Montego Bay, which is one of the most popular locations in Jamaica. This beach is five miles long, which is perfect for those who like to beach walk. The beach itself is composed of fine white sand, and the water that surrounds it is a lovely shade of turquoise. Doctors discovered this beach back in 1906, which is how it got its name.

Because of its Montego Bay location, tourists will find that this beach has many amenities. There is a beach bar, changing rooms, water activities such as water skiing and snorkeling, as well as a couple of food stands. This beach has been found to be a particularly good fit for families.

Cornwall Beach

This beach, which is also located in Montego Bay, is a beach that tourists like to visit for its particularly stunning views of the ocean. There is a nominal admission fee to this beach. Also, because the beach is one of the more popular ones in Jamaica, tourists are advised to get to the beach as soon as it opens. Tourists should also not be surprised at the amount of vendors who appear on the beach tying to sell souvenirs.

Negril Beach

Negril Beach is located on the northern coast of Jamaica, and is seven miles long. This beach features golden sands, and several clothing-optional sections. This is a favorite beach for jet setters. There are many all inclusive resorts, bars, clubs and open-air restaurants that can be found here. This beach is not a particularly suitable fit for families.

Treasure Beach

This beach is located on the south coast of Jamaica. One of the most appealing aspects of this beach is that it allows its visitors to relax in an quieter atmosphere than that of some of the other beaches. One thing to keep in mind about this beach is that it has a strong undertow. Thus, it is not recommended that inexperienced swimmers swim here. Those with extensive swimming experience often come here to see a bit of adventure, but at no time should the danger of these waters be underestimated. After a day of relaxation, visitors can get a meal at one of the restaurants or cafes that are nearby.
