Bahia Principe Punta Cana Reviews

The Bahia Principe resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
The Bahia Principe Punta Cana is simply a massive resort. The entire complex is made up of several Bahia Principe properties, and guests who choose the all-inclusive package can choose their meals, drinks and entertainment at any of them. The resort offers nightly concerts as well as local entertainment and cultural shows. Shuttles take guests from one part of the resort to another, so even though the resort is huge, the amount of walking is limited.
Wows and Woes

The restaurants are all excellent, but the best offering of all is the buffet in the main dining area, offering meats, cheeses and an assortment of local and exotic fruits and vegetables. Even though guests flock to the buffet, it never feels packed and there is always fresh food available for the next helping. Also, the resort stocks the minibars in the room as part of the all-inclusive package.

Insider Tips

Most of the staff at the resort don't speak English, so take a few minutes to memorize a few simple phrases and stick to those during your trip. "Please" and "Thank you" go a long way toward getting smiles from the resort personnel, and the staff all seem to appreciate that you're at least trying to communicate with them in a way they'll understand.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

During one of the family theme nights at the resort, my husband and kids all thought it would be funny to walk around all evening in grass skirts and coconut-shell tops. They're all boys!

Bottom Line

The sheer size of the resort can be a turnoff for many, but the shuttles and the exceptional quality of the resort and staff make up for any shortcomings.
