If you are traveling to the Bahamas, there are various requirements depending on what country you are coming from. There are also immigration procedures that require you to sign and carry documents with you for your entire stay. However, before you can do any of this, you must meet the passport requirements. In the
United States, getting a passport for the Bahamas is like getting a passport for any other country.
The Application Process
Apply for a passport. You have to apply in person at a passport agency or acceptance facility. You can find your nearest passport agency by visiting www.travel.state.gov.
Additional Documentation
Supply additional documentation on form DS-11. Form DS-11 can be obtained here: http://travel.state.gov/passport/forms/ds11/ds11_842.html
You must supply one of the following:
Your birth certificate issued by the city, county or state you were born in.
A previously issued US passport that is not damaged.
A Consular Report of Birth Abroad or a Certification of Birth
A certificate of citizenship
A naturalization certificate
Additional Documentation at Time of Application Submission
Submit your application in person. You also have to bring with you one of the following:
A naturalization certificate
A military ID
A government ID
A valid driver's license
A previously issued U.S. passport that is not damaged
If you don't have any of these documents, you can submit multiple signature-based documents, but you must submit them all at once when you turn in your application. This could be a credit card, your social security card, a library card, and employer ID card, or any official signature-based identification. You'll also need a witness present that has known you for at least 2 years, is a US citizen or permanent resident and who also has valid ID. Your witness must fill out form DS-71 (affidavit of identifying witness in the presence of a passport agent). This form will only be available at the passport agency or acceptance facility where you are applying.
Pay The Fee
Pay the fee for application and for your passport. The current fees are listed here: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/fees/fees_837.html
