Activities in Jamaica During Spring Break
With its warm weather, clear water, serene
beaches and friendly locals, Jamaica has become one of the world's premier Spring Break destinations. Many Spring Break tour companies have capitalized on this fact, providing students with cheap, all-inclusive vacation plans that include numerous activities, such as snorkeling, dancing and drinking. Even if you don't plan to book one of these tours you can still create an amazing Spring Break experience by engaging in a few of the fun, infamous activities that have made Jamaica so popular for Spring Breakers.
Booze Cruises
cruises that contain open bars, dancing and other party-like scenarios are labeled booze cruises, and Jamaica has its fair share of them. The most popular is probably the Jolly Mermaid, which includes snorkeling and an underwater cabin that allows patrons to view tropical fish and snorkelers. After dark they host limbo contests and dance parties. The cruises typically make a few stops at island hot spots, such as Rick's Cafe as well.
Cliff Jumping
Jamaica is known for its high peaks and crystal-blue waters. Therefore, it's no surprise that cliff jumping has become a popular activity among Spring Breakers. The most popular place to engage in cliff jumping is at Rick's Cafe in Negril. The jump is 35 feet high and is completed by tourists and professional jumpers alike. Just be sure that you follow all the rules for a clean, injury-free jump. Though Spring Break is known for heavy drinking, it is not recommended that cliff jumping be undertaken by anyone under the influence of alcohol.
City Pass
Though the City Pass is not exactly a Spring Break activity, it opens the doors to numerous activities. The pass can be purchased at most bars, clubs and hotels around Jamaica's Spring Break hot spots, such as Negril and Montego Bay. It can also be purchased from Spring Break tour operators. The pass enables students to access certain bars and clubs for free. It also provides free drinks, which can be inexpensive and convenient for students who do not want to travel with large sums of cash. The city pass in Negril will also gain students entry to the Mardis Gras party at Margaritaville and the toga party at the Jungle Nightclub.
