The Dominican Republic is an island in the
Caribbean with a history and culture so rich, it's sure to thrill your senses. With sports, music, food and dancing there's no limit to the excitement. The list of places to see and things to do are endless. There are activities for the adrenaline junkies as well as those who prefer a more laid back time. There are escapades for the kids, too.
Tropical weather is also enjoyed year-round with two rainy seasons. However, if you plan to visit remember that most hurricanes take place from August to December so plan ahead.
Adventures
Adventure and tour activities abound in the Dominican Republic. Iguana Mama offers hiking, mountain biking and rafting among others. This destination also introduces visitors to greenery and fauna only found in the this beautiful country. At the Punta Cana Explorer you can go fishing then have your catch prepared in a delicious and aromatic dish by the cook. What better way to enjoy your fishing trip. Other activities at this locale include snorkeling, speed boats and diving. Ocean World comes with a marina, casino and an adventure park. Visit the park for daily scheduled events and restaurants. You will also find an array of sea and wildlife. Cabarete is the place for windsurfing. From beginners to experts can enjoy the wind in their sail. Cabarete also holds an annual windsurfing race for a week in June.
Nightlife
If nightlife is what you crave, the Dominican Republic will not disappoint. You can find bars, dining, drinks and dancing for every taste and budget. Try your hand at poker and enjoy free drinks till the early morning hours. Dance the night away to pounding merengue and bachata. Sip on the most beloved Cubra Libre which is a mix of Dominican Rum and Coke topped off with a slice of lime. Discover the Capharina, the cocktail of cocktails in the Dominican Republic. Savor an enticing cuisine of varying nationalities under a star-filled sky.
Children
Children will love swimming and horseback riding. Ranchers usually have Creole horses which are the more tame of the bunch. These horses have also been taught to go slower for the security of the children. There are also many age appropriate water sports such as body boarding the little ones will look froward to. Older children can take part in water skiing, boogie boarding and the like. The possibilities are boundless for the whole family.
