Winnipeg Tourism

Winnipeg is the capital of Manitoba and also its largest city. The city has a population of 633,000 people and is one of the leading cultural centers in all of Canada.
The Forks

The Red and Assiniboine Rivers converge in Winnipeg at a point that has been called The Forks. This location, once a meeting place for centuries of fur trappers, Indians, hunters and traders, is now home to markets, theaters and an extensive skate park.

Museums

Numerous museums throughout Winnipeg include the Living Prairie Museum and the Manitoba Children's Museum; the Winnipeg Art Gallery is the oldest in all of Canada, and is home to over 23,000 pieces of artwork.

Mint

The Royal Canadian Mint opened a new facility in Winnipeg in the early 1970s. Guided tours of the mint take place during the week.

Theater

Many theater groups, including the Winnipeg Jewish Theater and the Manitoba Theatre for Young People, have been established for years.

Golf

There are several golf courses in the Winnipeg area, including the Windsor Park Golf Course, which is home to countless cross-country skiing trails in the winter months.
