Based in Etobicoke, Ontario, Skyservice Airlines Inc. provides air ambulance, charter flights and business aviation services. The company maintains 50 individual businesses and provides service to destinations in
Europe and the
United States.
History
Skyservice started in 1986 and has operated continuously since then. In 2005, the company added two Boeing 767 jets to its lineup, purchased from My Travel Airways, with the flights on those planes departing in Puerto Vallarta. Gibralt Capital Corp. purchased controlling interest in the airline operations in 2007. In 2009, the company offered Inflite Media advertising on its aircraft. As of 2009 it was one of the only airline companies in Canada that still provided a full meal for guests.
Current Fleet
As of 2009, Skyservice maintained an Airbus A320 plane capable of holding 180 passengers and a Boeing 757 that holds 233 passengers. The company also owns a C-GTSJ plane that's kept in storage in Toronto until the company needs it and a C-FLOX that it leases to Arkefly in the summers. Additionally, the company owns a Bombardier CRJ200LR plane that's rarely used and a Skyservice B757-200. The company offers a total of 12 regional flights on its planes.
Old Fleet
Throughout the history of Skyservice, the company has had a number of different planes at its disposal. The company owned two Boeing 767-300 model planes, both of which are now part of Thomas Cook Airlines. The company also maintained five Airbus A319-100 planes, all of which were sold to other airlines and an Airbus A330-300 model plane. The last plane was abandoned when the company couldn't hold on to its lease.
Economy Class
Economy Class on Skyservice comes with free coffee and tea during the flight as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for an additional fee. Meals are chosen in advance for the flight, with all flights serving free hot meals. The economy class also comes with first-run movies featured on all flights, with an audio headset available for a nominal fee.
Star Class
Star Class on Skyservice planes is similar to business class. Passengers flying Star Class have a larger bag allowance for luggage and receive first check-in and first baggage handling on flights. These passengers also receive first boarding and are given first choice of seats on the plane. During the flight they receive free alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, hot meals and free headsets for the in-flight movie.
Class Superiore
Class Superiore is the first-class seating found on all Skyservice planes. Class Superiore passengers have access to priority seat choices, priority boarding and priority luggage handling and check-in. The seats in this section are also larger, with more legroom. An open bar is available in this section of the plane, with free alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as well as Italian sparkling wine. Passengers also receive free hot towels, hot meals and audio headsets for the movie.
