Wows: The decor and atmosphere of the hotel creates a zen-like feeling, helping guests to immediately begin relaxing.

Woes: Meal portions at the on-site Market restaurant are a bit small for the price.

Insider Tips

A massage at the spa is a must when staying at Shangri-La. The atmosphere in the hotel is already relaxing, but the music, lighting and easy-going tones of the spa will make it seem like you are hours away from the big city.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

The hot stone massage stood out above everything else. The masseuse was phenomenal, and I came out relaxed and stress-free. In the middle of a busy city like Vancouver, B.C., the massage was a fantastic hourlong escape.

Bottom Line

The Shangri-La may is pricey, but it's worth it if you plan to spend enough time in the hotel to take advantage of its many amenities.
