How to Obtain a Canadian Work Visa
A visa is an agreement issued by Canada to live and work in the country without being a citizen. If you are interested in working temporarily in Canada while you are visiting or vacationing, this can be a good choice. If you are getting married to someone who is Canadian or are planning to live in Canada permanently, you might want to apply for Canadian citizenship instead.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step 1

Fill out an application to work in Canada. You can fill it out at the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website or in person at a Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) location.

Step 2

Submit your application with a job offer from your employer in writing, a positive labor market opinion from Canadian Human Resources (it is your employer's responsibility to send it to you) and proof of identity, preferably a passport.

Step 3

Determine if you need a temporary resident visa. Consult the CIC website or call your local CIC office to determine if you are in need of one. If you live in the United States, you do not need a temporary resident visa to work in Canada, only a passport.

Step 4

Pay the processing fee by mail or in person. If you owe a processing fee, your application will not be processed until you pay the fee, which varies by location and time of year.
