Calgary is a city in Alberta, Canada. The city is situated in Canada's western region and lies in south-central Alberta. Discovery of oil in the 1970s brought expansion and an increase in population to the city. The downtown area is home to many high-rise buildings and skyscrapers that lures tourists into the city. The population is 1.1 million and the languages spoken are English and French.
