How To Fix an iPod OS
Just like uninstalling and reinstalling a program on a computer, simply resetting the iPod to its original factory settings will fix the vast majority of the problems you might encounter. If you're having problems with your iPod's operating system before a vacation, you'll want to make sure all is well before you head out on the big trip. This can be done in just a few minutes.
Instructions
Difficulty: Easy
Step 1
Connect your iPod to your computer using its USB cable.
Step 2
Open iTunes. If you haven't already installed iTunes, download and install it from Apple.com.
Step 3
Click on your iPod's name in the "Devices" menu on the left side of the iTunes screen. This will bring up your iPod's settings screen.
Step 4
Click the button that says "Restore." This will completely erase all data (including the operating system) on your iPod. The iPod's operating system will then be reinstalled with the device's original factory settings.
Step 5
Wait for the restore process to complete. This will take a couple of minutes. Do not disconnect your iPod from the computer until the restore process is done. Once it has completed, you can sync your iPod with your iTunes library once again.
