Where To Go
Most of the skiing in Australia can be found in the states of Victoria and New South Wales, so skiing can easily be combined with a visit to Sydney.
When To Go
If the summer has you craving ski runs the way department stores crave Christmas in July, head south for an endless winter. The June through October ski season is the prime time to catch the best snow conditions throughout Australia.
How To Make It Affordable
To lure powder lovers from the Northern Hemisphere, three of the Aussie's biggest resorts--Perisher, Falls Creek and Hotham--offer a combined season pass for foreign travelers. It's not the Alps or the Canadian Rockies, but where else can you get fresh turns in August?
Conditions/Accomodations
Australian ski resorts are scenic, offering beginner and advanced slopes, sheltered ski bowls, multiple lifts and gondolas and a variety of amenities. Most resorts also accommodate snowboarders.
The Season
Australia's winter ski season is officially from June to August. The ski season can start as early as March or April and run into October.
