Century Park Bangkok
The Century Park Hotel in the heart of Bangkok's Pratunam District is a newer, efficient and friendly hotel. The hotel staff maintains a calm and courteous air of service, which can be a great asset when visiting the ever active and non-stop chaos that is Bangkok. The hotel offers full-service amenities from room service, to blow dryers to business necessities like Internet access.
Wows and Woes
The Century Park Hotel is eager to please; every request is quickly responded to, including fast room service.
Bangkok is one of the stickiest, dirtiest cities I've spent time in, so good air conditioning is a must. The hotel's air conditioning never hits a truly cold temperature and could use a tune-up.
Insider Tips
Ask for an upgrade to a deluxe room, especially if you're celebrating a birthday or anniversary. The hotel is very willing to grant this if rooms are available.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
Single female travelers can be harassed by other visitors to Thailand who travel to Bangkok to participate in the sex trade. The best way to solve this is to return to your hotel and hope the staff can't be bought off by your "stalker." The bellhop from the Century Park was such a gentleman: he walked me to my room to make sure I wasn't being followed and checked on me every day.
Bottom Line
In the center of Bangkok with a decent rate, this hotel is worth the money.
