Car Rentals in Shinjuku

Shinjuku is a bustling, fast-paced, business, shopping and entertainment ward of Tokyo. Most of Tokyo's skyscrapers, including the breathtaking Tokyo Tower, Shinjuku West and the Cocoon tower can be found in Shinjuku.
Because of Shinjuku's dense population, driving is not typically recommended. The best way to get around the city in this area is on foot or by subway. If you plan on visiting remote places outside the city, renting a car is a better option.
Car-rental companies in Japan have many convenient branches. Be aware that service at these car-rental places is usually not provided in English. Rates, vehicles and service offers are comparable to Western car-rental companies.
To rent a car in Shinjuku you will need your passport and a valid international drivers license. You will also need to provide a valid credit card. Foreign visitors from Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Taiwan, and Austria are required to provide a Japanese-translated drivers license. Issuance of these translated licenses can be made by the respective embassy or consulate in Japan. Renters can also sign up for collision insurance at the rental office. Note that in Japan you drive on the left side of the road.
