Had Rin, the most popular beach vacation spot in Koh Phangan, is comprised of two beaches, Had Rin Nai and Had Rin Nok. These beaches are found on the southeast coast on the Gulf of Thailand. A Full Moon Party, which attracts 10,000 to 20,000 people each month, is held on Had Rin Nok. The beach has a large selection of restaurants and nightclub, as well as tourist resorts, hotels and bungalow rentals.

Had Khom beach is located on the island's north coast. This area is home to an abundance of coral reefs and is encompassed by dense mountains. Had Khom is off the beaten path, and the roads leading into this beach are severely damaged. Access is via water taxis operating out of the town of Chaloklum or for the more adventurous, 4WD vehicles and dirt bikes. The charm of Had Khom lies in its low tourist population and its abundance of snorkeling spots. Accommodations on Had Khom beach include fan-cooled bungalows, boutique hotels and modern villas and resorts.

Ao Choa Phao beach is to the west. Home to year-round swimming and abounding sea life and coral reefs, Ao Choa Phao is a relaxed vacation destination that draws in multitudes of snorkelers and divers. Ao Choa Phao boasts an abundance of mountain trails and is in the vicinity of the Wang Sai waterfall as well as the Laem Son freshwater lake. Ao Choa Phao has not experienced rampant tourist development and it retains the calm picturesque allure that attracted its first visitors. Accommodations for Ao Chao Phao includes beach bungalows, modern resorts and small hotels.
