Bangkok Palace Hotel Lounge
The 660-room Bangkok Palace Hotel is located in the heart of Bangkok's Pratunam shopping and entertainment district. This hotel blends old-world charm with modern amenities that make any stay in the bustling city of Bangkok more relaxing and enjoyable. The hotel's unique interior design will take your breath away even in the midst of a country known for natural beauty.
Wows and Woes
This hotel is elegantly designed with an eye that maintains the organic beauty of Thailand, using simple Asian artistry and carvings to decorate the lobby and rooms.
The Bangkok Palace is in the heart of the shopping area, which means the second you step outside you will be bombarded with people wanting to take your money.
Insider Tips
As of August 2009, the hotel charged an extra 700 Baht ($23 US) for a second person, even if you're a couple, so book a room for one instead two. If they catch you, they'll just charge you the extra 700.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
Bangkok can be extremely hot and dirty. Tuk-tuks roll by and splash waters from puddles, while mopeds with missing mufflers scream loudly through the streets. After being splashed by mud and practically going deaf from noise pollution, I collapsed in the completely empty and refreshingly cold hotel pool and forgot everything.
Bottom Line
The Bangkok Palace has a quiet beauty once you're inside, which is a necessary contrast to the non-stop noise, pollution and insanity of the streets of Bangkok.
