- Addonics 1.8-inch ZIF - CF Adapter
- Compact Flash card
- Small flathead screwdriver
Step 1
Insert a Compact Flash Card (CF) into the Addonics 1.8-inch ZIF -- CF Adapter.
Step 2
Insert a flathead screwdriver into the seam of the iPod case between the front (screen) and back. Use a razor blade instead of a screwdriver if the seam is tight. Run the screwdriver, or razor blade, along the seam and gently push in on the clips to free each side. Gently wiggle the front panel from side to side to free the clips (tabs).
Step 3
Push the 1.8-inch hard drive connector latch to face vertical. The hard drive of the iPod is connected through a ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) interface. This will loosen the clamp and allow the 1.8-inch hard drive to be removed from the ZIF connection.
Step 4
Attach the Compact Flash -- CF Adapter (from Step 1) into the ZIF connection. Push the latch back to its original horizontal position to secure placement.
Step 5
Close the iPod case by pushing the front and back panels together. Connect the iPod to the computer with USB cable. iTunes will open and state that the CF cannot be read. Click "OK" to continue. iTunes will prompt you with an option to "Restore" original settings. Click the "Restore" button. After the restore process has completed, reboot the iPod. The CF has been formatted and is ready to use.
